Having a free wordpress blog means that nasty stuff like viruses and attack-bugs are usually sorted out by wordpress without my having to know about them, or try to deal with them myself. Seeing the problems which some independent sites run by very IT savvy people have had to deal with, it’s not something I want to do.
The downside is that wordpress puts ads on the site. They’re invisible to me; I don’t make a cent or penny from their appearing, and the ads people neither sponsor me nor reward me for it.
The alternative would be to be put in the position of regularly having to deal myself with the sort of things that have repeatedly crashed other independent blogsites.
So – truly sorry about the ads, and if any reader would enjoy serving as a volunteer tech. person on call, do let me know. Until then, I’ll stay with wordpress’ free account and free tech-fixes.
